Our Classes:
Afro-Modern:
Afro-Modern is a contemporary fusion of African diasporic aesthetics and Modern dance techniques. It is a full-body movement class incorporating isolation/undulations, contract/ release techniques, polyrhythmic movement dynamics, and musicality. Experience this cultural explosion featuring choreography rooted in African diaspora movements including African, Afro-Brazilian, Haitian, Caribbean, and African American-based movements.
Ballet:
This ballet classes is an intermediate level class with a focus on the basic elements of the technique. We will work of flexibility, balance, and coordination while moving swiftly from barre to center. It is time to check how the basics are working to move forward stronger and better than ever!
Belly Dance:
Strength, grace and rhythm are just a few gifts of Middle Eastern dance. With over 9 years of training and performance of Raqs Sharqi (the classical Egyptian style of belly dance), Miss Anita will guide you as you learn Belly Dance technique and artistry. All levels and all genders welcome.
Breaking:
The Hip Hop Style of Breaking, also known as ‘B-boying’ or ‘B-girling’, is well known for its intensity. This class will get the blood pumping with a high energy, music-driven warmup, and detailed stretching exercises to get those muscles moving. Footwork, floor work, momentum-driven movements, and floor-based poses will be drilled, and woven together to create small movement-sets or choreographies, until they are understood at a comfortable enough level to freely improvise with what is learned, to whatever music is being heard. Get ready to experience a comprehensive workout, explore eccentric body positions, and discover things that you probably never knew you could achieve!
Contemporary:
Contemporary dance combines elements of several dance styles including modern, jazz, ballet, and even Hip Hop. This class will specifically work with Release Technique, Limon, and Graham techniques, but will also emphasize the importance of mind-body connection and floor work. The class is open for ages 14 & up. Dance experience encouraged.
Ecstatic Dance and Meditation (EDM)
Ecstatic Dance and Meditation (EDM) is a bi-focal experience. In Part I of class, you can expect to move freely to a broad spectrum of sounds ranging from but not limited to classical, latin, hip hop, techno, house, and more! Winding down into Part II, you will be transported to a powerful place of calm through intuitive guidance and ambient sounds. EDM- a place where dance and meditation co-habitate.
Heels Dance
This open-level heels class is designed for dancers of all experience levels, from beginners building a foundation to advanced dancers refining their craft. The class focuses on perfecting skills within the heels genre, including performance quality, heels technique, and developing a deeper connection to the body. Dancers will have the opportunity to build confidence, polish their movement, and enhance their unique style.
Hip Hop Choreo
This all-levels Hip Hop class is perfect for introducing new dancers to Hip Hop movement and grounding experienced dancers in foundations. Come have fun, get sweaty, and learn some new moves!
Hip Hop Clowning:
Hip Hop Clowning came out of Los Angeles in the late 90s and was made popular by Tommy The Clown. The vibrant colors and trendy dance moves were used to keep children growing up in rough neighborhoods in a positive afterschool activity. The actual dance style is upbeat, joyful, and entertaining, but does have an aggressiveness when it comes to the battle scene. There are currently 9 active groups that represents the current hip hop clowning movement: Rocco and TLOC, T-Squad, HB Squad, Helen Squad, OPP Squad, Coolaid , Boomsquad, Now That’s Clowning and 2KC.
Hip Hop Party Dances
This all levels Hip Hop class teaches all your favorite Hip Hop party dances from the Roger Rabbit to the Gucci. These social dances are a foundation of Hip Hop culture and will help you find your groove at any party!
House
House Dance is a style of dance that originated in the late 70s and early 80s from underground clubs in Chicago and New York. The style was influenced by several types of movement, including Tap, African dance, Latin dance, and martial arts.
K-Pop Klubbin’
Always wanted to dance like your favorite K-Pop group? Not sure what K-Pop dancing entails? Then this class is for you! Join local pop sensation and dance aficionado sora and learn the choreography to the latest hit Korean Pop songs. From BTS to LOONA, and even throwing it back to the beloved groups from previous generations, this class will explore a wide array of styles and dances, including a few original routines! Come party with us in this super fun class.
Kids Hip Hop
This class teaches the fundamentals of Hip Hop dance; covering Breakin', House, Krump, Popping, Hip Hop Social Dances and more! The class is open to ages 6-11.
Kids Musical Theater
Musical Theatre encompasses all three performing arts. Students will learn Jazz and Ballet techniques, play theater games, and practice singing. Open to ages 6-11.
Krump:
(Kingdom. Radical. Uplifting. Mighty. Praise.) In this class you will learn about how Krump came to fruition, the basics of Krump and how to channel your emotions in a Krump manner.
Tots Ballet
In this class, your young one will explore dance movement through fun interactive games and imaginative exploration with a loose empasis on Ballet technique. We introduce the elements of dance (body, action, space, time, and energy) to prepare your student for further dance training and use our imaginations to explore movement in a variety of fun ways! Open to ages 3-5.
Tots Hip Hop
In this class, your young one will explore dance movement through fun interactive games and imaginative exploration with a loose empasis on Hip Hop technique. We introduce the elements of dance (body, action, space, time, and energy) to prepare your student for further dance training and use our imaginations to explore movement in a variety of fun ways! Open to ages 3-5.
Youth Contemporary
Contemporary dance combines elements of several dance styles including modern, jazz, ballet, and even Hip Hop. This class will specifically work with Release Technique, Horton, Limon, and Graham techniques, but will also emphasize American Jazz dance. Open to ages 10-14.
Vogue
The art of Vogue emerged from the Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities in NYC. This class will introduce you to the elements and building blocks of Vogue: Hand performance, cat walk, duck walk, spins/dips and floor performance. You’ll learn how to combine the elements into a powerful performance.
